The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians is an essential resource for newly-arrived individuals from around the globe. The organization works to connect immigrants with economic opportunities while creating economic benefits for all Pennsylvanians. Inline with DVREDF’s mission to create jobs and reenergize the local economy, we provided The Welcoming Center with funds to train and place 20 work-authorized immigrants hailing from Africa, South America and the Caribbean as Home Health Aides.
The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians connects newly arrived individuals from around the world with the economic opportunities that they need to succeed in our region. Since its founding in 2003 the organization has aided more than 7,000 people from over 110 countries. The Welcoming Center believes that a steady influx of new customers, workers, and entrepreneurs can reinvigorate Pennsylvania’s aging population, renew its neighborhoods, and re-energize our economy. Specifically, the Welcoming Center is a centralized employment and referral center for the region’s growing immigrant community. The organization works closely with the many regional organizations that have a stake in immigration, including government agencies, service providers, employers, business associations, trade unions, and economic development groups.
